Faux Finish On Oil Based Cabinets
I have a job where i am painting new cabinets with an oil based primer and paint. I plan to sand and wipe down with a tack cloth after each coat of paint. Then after i paint them i am going to apply a faux finish(white Wash) using an oil based polyurethane and some white paint. My question is would you do a light sanding/wipe down before you apply the faux?? and how long would you wait to apply the faux over the newly painted cabinets??thanks

Re: Faux Finish On Oil Based Cabinets
I usually will do a glaze within 24-48 hours of base coats if it's oil. Too much longer and paint cures too hard- wash is very light. I like to wait at least a couple days if glazing over latex base to allow it to off gas and harden. Though you can paint the next day, I've noticed the acrylics tend to absorb more glaze and go darker than samples if acrylics aren't hard.
