What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
Hey guys well I am estimating a big addition which includes master bed and bath. I have attached a drawing with the simulated bathroom. Can you guys think of any way of more efficiently designing the space for daily use.... or does this look good?? let me know if you can!! The room is 20' wide and 6' deep could be made deeper if more efficiently. tub is 5'x5' vanity 6' shower 4'x3'

I like that the crapper is tucked out of sight
What program did you use to create that?

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
I think the bath and closets could be laid out better. Also don't like the 5x5 tub against a 6' wall, that 1' leftover space is just going to be a dust catcher.
Here is a quick drawing I did, and I am sure if I think about it more could come up with better ideas. This drawing has a walk-in closet and a toilet room. |

Don't like the small space between tub and wall.
Don't like the small space between tub and vanity Don't like vanity (wood) by tub Don't like plastic showers Other than that, it's just fine. Kgmz's is a better design |

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
I like k's drawing more too-rectangles are nice when the dim's are closer-the long narrow is almost a 'hallway'. If you are limitid to the dim's you first provided, I would suggest placing the stall all the way to the left-widen stall to 4' and add a 2' towel closet (or 3' stall and 3' closet)-swap the toilet where the stall 'was' and place knee wall on either side. have a built in seat on the side of the knee wall that faces the shower stall!
personally, I don't like door's or cubby holes for the john-makes it feel like a commercial setting (in a bad way). can you sell them on a urinal? make it an auto flush unit :-) |

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
hey guys thanks for your input. dont have much experience in bathroom design. we have plenty of room to do the one that he drew. I like it. I didnt like the fact of the vanity beside the corner tub. or the 1 ft space believe me i have the dang thing in my bathroom poor design. but wasnt real sure what all they carry. I designed it in sketchup. like the program but have to find bathroom component models and learn to work with models or you will be lost. I figured if I posted on here your input would help the customer make up there mind. KMGZ's design is wonderful for this space. if you get the chance to kind of explain how to put the shower next to the tub let me know. thanks guys look forward to hearing more from ya.

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
here is the bathroom section of the drawing brought to life. dont mind any mistakes i only took 10 minutes to do it. sorry let me know what you think of it now. There is a wall between the tub and shower just dont have it pulled up into view.

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
I like that the best so far.
Good to get rid of some of the "toilet tunnel" effect. If need be to make pull the tub side "flat" out a tad past the shower wall, you might consider bumping out the right side wall behind the tub? I don't know how true to life the representations of the fixtures are. Clear as mud?

Factors to consider: Space, convenient, easy to clean, easy & space to fix/upgrade, and equal lighting shadow/effects. The last pix has everything in center, that's good.

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
I personally do not like having a cabinet beside the tub even though I have done this a hundred times for customers. The shower is always nicer if it is incorporated in the tub design or in a close proximity. This does not work well be pre-moulded units. If you have the room you could put one sink in with the crapper and have the other as a main bath area sink. This would allow for both privacy and functionality.

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
Looks good. Consider swapping the tub and shower only for the fact that you won't cut off the view of the tub when you walk in the bathroom.
Some people (like me) don't want to have a wall blocking the view of the door when they're in the tub. Plus it will have that WOW factor if you walk in and see the tub full view. Disclaimer: Results may vary depending on who's in the tub when you walk in.

Re: What Do You Guys Think Of The Bathroom Design In New Construction
I'd like to see some glass between the tub and shower ,the least amount of partitions the better. (no fiberglass shower), all tile, tub area and shower.

1st or 2nd floor addition? Which direction do the floor joists run? This puts some limitations on plumbling layout.
