Water Damage
Howdy Folks, I'm happy to be a registered user at last.
A customer has had water leaking in some chimney flashing. That's been fixed as of a few days ago. On the inside there is blistering paint and some plaster damage, No problem. Here's the question: How long would you wait for it (the walls and ceiling space) to dry before repairing the plaster and paint? I know there are plenty of factors and I intend to drill holes, contain the areas, and add heaters to the rooms. Any Ideas, experience or feed back would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Water Damage
Moisture meter? Maybe? A week.
My first concern would be mold. Heaters in an occupied house? |

Re: Water Damage
Moisture meter should help, thanks. Yes it's an occupied house, with very large rooms. The Idea is to set up temporary walls and increase the temperature in the areas of the room that are to be addressed.

Re: Water Damage
You can rent fans designed for this purpose, also dehumidifiers. If you use heat you will increase the chance for mold growth. Use cool air and a mildicide to control the mold \mildew. you can get this from a water damage supply house or restoration company in your area. Good luck.
