There are times when I free hand drill locksets if I only have 1or 2 to do and my jig is in the truck. But rule of thumb is that if you have a jig, once you have it set, it will out do free hand any day of the week when it comes to doing precission repetative boaring. I also have the porter cable hinge jig and that has saved my butt many times. By the way "lone framer" I am envious. Nice set.
