Re: Remodel Bath

i just bid one out that had most of the same items as your bath.

i came in @ $20,000.00

lost the job to someone who would do it for 10k

leads from creig's list seems to be a waist of time

this is the 4th one to be a dead end

Our building dept. says "...use 3x the material price..."

This of course does not take into account:
- wiring/plumbing that needs to be relocated due to new room layout
- access from above/below for new/relocated wiring/plumbing req's
- etc

20K still seems a little low, remember contractors like all businesses need to make a reasonable profit in order to stay in business! Get 3 or 4 bids and compare. Also, you should do a little research in order to educate yourself about the products that are out there for the consumer. I myself would much rather talk with an informed customer and also someone who's not trying to nickel and dime me!

I would say WAY low for what you described. Remodeling bathrooms is time consuming and labor intensive. There is no way to shortcut how long it takes to do things correctly--I don't care who you are. Plus, additional manpower usually doesn't help since you can usually only fit one guy into the room at once and the tools are always outside far away.

But, what do I know...

Re: Remodel Bath

I would go $25-30k depending on conditions with 2-3k for basic materials.
