Question
If you guys were remodeling the inside of a house. The interior walls were 2x4construction and the homeowner wanted them insulated for sound. What insulation would you go with?
Ps. Not spray foam thats a budget breaker.

Re: Question
You want a low-budget solution?
Sheetrock. Sometimes we take the cutoffs and glue them inside partition cavities to provide more mass (as well as a good way to lessen the waste stream). Particularly around bathroom walls this is a great idea. People want their privacy in there and this gives them the sense of privacy. A tube of PL and sheetrock scraps -- fit them in, gluing one layer against one stud, next layer against the other stud in a cavity. A little more time consuming around electrical boxes but not too bad. |

Re: Question
what (STC) number are you trying to achieve. Maybe sound deadening board w/ 1/2" rock. As Bob say's, 3 1/2 sound batts unfaced.
