Pricing Question

If a HO requests a material and labor quote, how do you price the unknown? For example.. a lady says "I want my kitchen and master bath remodeled. I want a whirlpool tub and a new shower"etc...
how do you know how much the tub and shower and new cabinets cost if they're not picked out?

Re: Pricing Question

I don't do remodeling, but from what I know, you give an allowance for such items.

Re: Pricing Question

Pro wall is half right
Along with an allowance sheet, you have to have a reconciliation sheet.
Example:
Allowance Actual Difference
Toilet
150.00 200.00 50.00
Sink
300.00 275.00 -25.00
Tub
2000.00 2850.00 850.00

Fixtures
2450.00 3325.00 875.00
[/CENTER]
Using this contract method, you assume no risk. You must give reasonable allowances. You should not collect monies for these untill they are decided. You run the risk of collecting money & then having to return it later on a credit.
Open communication once again
Couldn't get these to space properly but I hope you got the idea.

I think the smileys are properly spaced. And you did OK on the spreadsheet too!

Re: Pricing Question

Does anyone have a sample contract or spreadsheet that I could reference to make my own?
