Re: Painting As Part Of Your Estimate
I have to admit as Josh is touching on it, sometimes it's the easy way out and the more profitable way out to pass on the painting...
One common scenario can be the customer has a $6000 budget but is trying to squeeze a lot of stuff into that budget... how simple is it to test the waters with a few well placed questions and suggestions to get the customer to take the painting out of the project and therefore the budget? How many customers have just moved them selves from comparing apples to apples estimates to now apples to oranges estimates since your estimate is now sans the painting costs? Another scenario is when a job is of the caliber of nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig.... well need I really say any more? I've also been in scenarios where we have already bumped their budet 25% or even as much as 50% from where they started and there simply in no more room for the painting. If the project is of a good caliber and will generate good pics, I have eaten some of the painting costs just to avoid the chances of them ruining the final product. |
