Odor Elimination

I have a customer that owns a lakehouse. They had not been there in about two months. When they opened the front door, the odor from the house was strong and foul. The fridge had died and the contents rotted. This has been more than a month and the odor still lingers in the furniture, carpet, draps and etc. They only go down a few times a year. Any ideas on getting rid of this odor. Thanks for any help.

Check for a Democrat hiding somewhere in the house.

Ozone machine? Do A search for ozone machine, there was some great info on getting rid of smells.

Re: Odor Elimination

I've had good luck with an ozone generator for foul odors in rentals... oddly, even from a rotten fridge, but mostly for animal urine and a dead body once. Rents for 90 bucks a day (only need to run for a few hours) from a local water damage/restoration company. The regular rental places don't seem to have them.

I follow up with a aerosol bomb called "Nuke 'em" from CK Industrial

Ozone machine. I've also used a product called Un-Smoke. Sprayed on paper towels and hung with paper clips throughout the house.

Re: Odor Elimination

Can't help with furniture and carpet, but after we took my wife's cat to the vet to put her to sleep, we had to clean up the bathroom she had her box in (which she didn't bother going to during the last few weeks). On a hunch, I spread down a lot of baking soda on the floor (linoleum) and then poured a lot of vinegar. It released gas, of course, but I scrubbed it, then cleaned it thoroughly. The pet/urine smell went away.

I think I know a guy that will never work again for doing that.

Come to think of it, I think he may have died a few years after that happened.
