New windows and Headers

Just wondering how most guys add headers for new windows.? How do you support the load while reframeing for the window?
Thanks

dbl 2x10 headers are standard if there is such a thing on openings up to 8' switch to microlams after that. support ceilings walls with temporary shoring. allow 2' ft of work space then stand a 2x4 wall under the ceiling w/ 2x4s on 2' centers.

Been doing remodel and new framing all my life, don't know that I'd use a 2x10 for 8' span Sounds a bit much even for supporting a roof only overhead, what about if there is another floor above that? I only use 2x10 for up to 4' span, 2x12 up to 6' span, then LVL, Microlam, Paralam, or whatever you may call it. Shoring wall aut to be 2x4 across the room with studs a minimum 24" oc with "X" bracing nailed across the stods to stiffen them (Can not tell you how many times I've seen temp walls rack because someone miscalculated the load that would be on them, so the cross bracing really helps)

I'd still do it my way, ask any one who has remodeled a house, just because it is a house doe's not mean it was framed as it should be. I've seen too many goofy things in a house, especially if the home owner had worked for Lowe's or HD, they suddenly become carpenters and just because they know what isle the levels in doe's not mean they know how to use them. To sum it up, never assume anything, because when you do you make an (ASS) out of (U) (ME)
