New Startup

Hey guys I am a licensed master plumber who recently started my own co
within the past year and a half and have sinde decided I hate new const as far as the contractors go and service work is to sporadic to earn a living I have been contemplated just turning my co into a remodel renovation co. specializing in kitchens and baths as I do enjoy all aspects of const. although one other thing I have learned is that I want to be one of the higher priced co and stop dealing with the penny pinching DIY crowd. I am definetly shaky at best when it comes to tile but I can sub that out I figure until I am more confident in my own abilities

any helpfull hints on how to get this off the ground market to the right people and sell some good jobs would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Hi Rick! Nice to see a neighbor on here. Since most of your competition will be coming out of Knoxville, Crossville etc. I'd suggest sitting down with none other than the local yellow pages and just review the ads of your competitors. You can use that to determine your niche. The fad of the moment in this area is upgrading to granite or marble countertops. (Yeah, I know, Tennessee is still behind the rest of the world...) We've completed several kitchen remodels in Oneida too. That's definately a weak area since there aren't many competitors if your close enough to market there. ( I'll even share one lead with you that we couldn't fit into the schedule if you'd like) I think your off to a good start just by being outside of K-Town.

Re: New Startup

Wow! Thanks that would be great, as I could use all the help i can get as far as leads go. Let me ask, how are your prices? As far as I can tell east Tn is also behind the times in pricing not just countertops. Where are you buying your countertops?

Any contract tips? clauses etc...
