Market Conditions In So. Cal.

I was wondering what the census was like in other areas. Particularly Southern California and Orange County areas?

There is a contractor that has been doing major remodels in my neighborhood. In the past 6 or 8 months he has completed 2 jobs and has 3 or 4 others in various stages, and that's just in MY neighborhood!!!
Is this normal??
Or has he just lucked out with a great neighborhood?

I live in a pretty nice, but older neighborhood near the beach. People here are pretty entrenched in their homes, and rather than sell, they expand and remodel. This seems to have been the trend in this neighborhood for the past couple of years.

The reason I ask, is I am ready to go out on my own next year and wonder if this is a good time to be starting a new remodeling business?

Well it is pretty slow right now but people are still doing romm adds and remodels. The holiday season is not going to help things either.
But I think in the next year people that need more room will remodel instead of moving...IMHO
