Hard Wood Floor Disaster ...HELP...

last night was a mess!
I was filling the tub to take a relaxing bath last nite when all hell broke loose.
My house was a foreclose home and when I moved in there was a few things missing but I never would of guess that the tub pump was gone too, it seemed like it was taking forever for the tub to fill up! When i went down stairs there was water dripping down from the can lights and the living room was flooded it was a total disaster, the water was going into the jets and out into the bottom of the tub down in to the ceiling below.
here is the problem I can fix mostly everything my self, water damage to the ceiling but the hard wood floors I don't want to replace. Is there a way to salvage or repair without reaping them out? only one strip swelled and splintered but I do have some swelling on the seams.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.....

Just cut out the bad ones and replace using screw down and cover with plugs.

Re: Hard Wood Floor Disaster ...HELP...

That's a major problem now with all forclosing houses on sale. You guys go read Yahoo today and see their pix/videos showing some forclosed houses with torn rock/walls, water-leaked ceilings, ripped off tub, wiring mess, stained/**** on carpets, appliances moved, etc.

It's amazing when owners just want to REVENGE onto the banks? There is program now called "cash-for-key" from those lenders that come in, give them some cash$, ask them NOT to destroy houses, move out ASAP, and give back the key.

While house hunting with the Mrs. last week, one of the homes we looked at had a laundry box with the hot bib dripping badly. The wall it was on had mold or mildew half way up the wall.I asked the realtor if he was going to let someone know about the leak and damage. He said "It's an as is foreclosure".Makes no sense to me.It was a beautiful floor plan.

Sounds like you are going to have to replace at least one board, but be patient with the rest, if you can. Had a flood in my house (my three year old built a pond) used fans for a while to bring the moisture level down, and several months later you couldn't see the previous cupping.

Re: Hard Wood Floor Disaster ...HELP...

Had a client buy a house and the previous owner had a washing machine line break and spilled water all over the first floor from the second. The seller did do the repairs but they kind of half did it. They had already moved out anyway and they were in the process of cleaning it up to sell it. I ended up getting the job to remodel it to fit my clients taste. By that time the floor had already started cupping a little. I checked it with my moisture meter it was still wet. My floor sub went on and sanded the finish off so that it could dry out better. Have not had any problems otherwise.
