Cove Moulding

What is the best way to attach a piece of cove moulding? Glue (spray adhesive), Nails? I'm attaching it to the bottom of a chair rail.

Re: Cove Moulding

I'd use a pin nailer, but not sure if that's best way... it works!

Re: Cove Moulding

A Brad, Finish or Pin Nailer? What's the difference, the length of the nails each can support?

Just a 4d finish, from the hardware store, and a hammer and nail set.

Yeh I know. I'm looking for an excuse to get a new toy . Also, if I go this route I want to ensure I get something I can make use of going forward for other projects. Plus, due to the angle and size of the cove, a hammer will not work.

Re: Cove Moulding

I was visiting my cousin who pulled out this cool little 'nail gun' for lack of a better way to put it. I was so amazed I didn't even catch the brand name... this thing is so small and it shoots 1/2" brads the width of a hair, no kidding. You don't even have to putty the holes! (if you can even see them) The box of brads that came with it looked like an altoid box that contained a million nails!

Re: Cove Moulding

Since I have a current need to install a small cove I believe the angled nail finisher or a pin nailer would be best. And, I do have additonal moulding/trim jobs coming up and would want to know which tool would help speed things up when doing such jobs.
