The scenery and recreation opportunities around here are the #1 reason I stay.
I've found nothing that compares to running the rapids on the Slocan River on an inner tube.
Or hiking 6 hrs into Siwash Lake to stay in the wild for a week.

Yea, except here they go round the outside because that's where the wheelchair ramp to their trailer is.

Actually there is only one trailer park in town and a couple blocks downtown by the river zoned for mobile homes.
Lots of houses from the 40s - 60s.
Quite a bit of newer developments built in the last 10 or so years as well.
Just last week I looked at a 100 yr old house, one of the first down here in Little Portugal, the bathroom is sinking into the ground.
I crawled under and almost cried when I saw the small logs for beams and joists and the piles of rocks holding it up.

First I cried because I suddenly really didn't want to be under there.
Then I cried because I'm quite sure she doesn't want to do what really needs to be done.
But we'll see.
I'm gonna go get some pics of it today to mull over for a while.
