Re: It Was An Accident??

I have done work inside some hispanic folks home and asian folks home. their decor in the asians is often some sort of red for goodluck or yellowish/orange/peach for money/gold. The hispanics around my area have a decor relating to their culture or what not. So I was guessing hispanic or asian.

in my neck of the woods, when it comes to personal taste its entirely the homeowners call, its their money and their house. now if it comes down to using a poor quality product that you have experience with and have found it to be inferior thats when you advise them to go another way such as installing factory 2nds of tile which dont lie flat and create an uneven floor

seems like you have a decent customer if she paid on time, had no taste in but also treated you and the crew well.

the hardest part is prying the payment from the customer when the time need be. I have to use kid gloves when doing that in a way that doesn't seem like I'm demanding "payment"

Just take pics before.
Then let them ruin it. That is worst thing about job. Some people have no design skills.

looks good! even the mirror. Funny thing, I had a prospective client this spring that came to me with a picture of that vanity, wanted to know if I would build it, finish it and install for under $1200. Still wondering how that turned out for him.

Heres the funny thing, my customer supplied the vanity which came with the granite top and 2 installed undermount basins. It is a "furniture style" vanity with soft closing doors and drawers. I would put the quality at about a 7-8 out of 10. Price - $800.00 plus tax at Costco.

Up here in Canada it would cost me that plus just to get the granite top fabricated! To build a vanity like that would be around 2K.

I feel sorry for cabinet companies that are trying to compete. That being said, we use a custom guy for the majority of our projects.

I've taken to offering free design advice for my homeowners, the projects are coming out a ton better, and only costs me $180. She also prevents me from making big goofs, like no lighting on the stairs.
