Will Quick Books Work On My New Computer?

I just ordered a new dell laptop. My main reason to buy it is to use my design program when i met with clients in there home.

But now i think i am going to use it for 100% of my business needs. Can i take quickbooks off my old desk top and put it on my new notebook? Please tell me yes, because i'd hate to have to spend 300 bucks again!

Yes you can. You have to use the save version and have the keytag number thingy when you load it on the new computer. Then you can copy your files onto a flashdrive and do a restore on the new computer from the flashdrive. Then you have all your info on the new computer.

Does your new computer have Vista? If so you may have trouble running a older copy of Quickbooks.

From this page: http://www.quickbooks.com/Helpcenter/Vista/
Quote:
QuickBooks 2007 is the only version of the software built to run on the Windows Vista operating system

I am running QB 2006 on Vista. I have read the issues involved and the main ones are Payroll which I don't use. I would say to give it a try and see if it runs. I did get a couple errors on install as noted in all the write ups but it is working fine. Updates need to be done manually but they too have installed.

I should have said that I was using XP when I did this. I got a email from quickbooks saying there may be problems if I try to upgrade to Vista.
