Website Response

How many leads/service requests did your websites generate last month? Last year? How many visits to the site? I'm especially interested in non-construction service companies (plumbers, electricians, hvac). My average ticket will be around $300, so 1 lead will not have the impact on me that it will for a $20k kitchen remodel. You may be happy with say 5 leads a month (I have no idea I just picked a number) but if all I generate is 5 leads a month I will have wasted my time and money.

I'm considering doing this but I want to try to find out if it fits the 10X rule (advertising must have a 10X roi to be considered successful) or if it's just cool to hand out business cards and say "Here, visit our website".

Re: Website Response

Wow! No one wants to share what sort of response they're getting from their websites?!

Does this mean it's not very good?

Does this mean noone knows because they are not tracking the source of their leads?

Does this mean that this topic has already been beaten to death on another thread and I just missed it?

P.S. I did not mean that you should not respond if you were not plumbing, electrical, or hvac service company. I just meant that I was particularly interested in those types of companies' response.

Re: Website Response

We now average 80-100 visits a day
About 40 of what I call inquiries a week(gen info, employment requests etc).
Out of these about 12-15 requests for estimates.
Average sale is about $2,700

Most of this from search engines, some pay per click

Since last year, different website, visits were about 60 a day and slightly smaller numbers for the rest
Pay about $800 a month for pay per click, $150 for some directories.
SEO, website maintenance, building a Content management etc. about 3-4,000 within the last year

Re: Website Response

I didn't respond because you said you were interested in service companies...

anyways we don't do PPC and we don't rely on internet generated leads. We use the website for a brochure that people reference after a contacting us somewhere else. For us search engine generated leads don't seem to materialize when 99% of visitors are from all over the country and we don't travel to Florida for work. We do get leads generated from other websites that link to us such as the BBB, NKBA and manufacturers websites.

Re: Website Response

Our website has only been up for 6 months or so.
Maybe once or twice every couple weeks we will get an email or call from our site.
As Mike said above, most check our site for info and pics.

We don't really advertise the site. We're listed on a few contractor directories scattered abroad, for free. We don't pay per click. And we don't use internet lead generation.

We're on the 4th page of Google search for "tile contractor charlotte"

we're utilizing SEO tools to optimize our search rankings

I wouldn't mind getting more hits to the site, and better, more calls from the site. But I don't deem paying to advertise a website is vital. To me the internet was setup for a FREE exchange of information. Maybe I'm just a cheapo.

We do spend $300 a month in paper advertising in both the Charlotte Observer and Carolina Money Saver that reaches over 75,000 homeowners. And we print 3000 door hangers/flyers every 3 months.
Lord knows how many business cards a day. I personally try to come face to face with potential customers and get out 10 cards a day.

Re: Website Response

If we counted on our web site to bring in leads we would be broke! We do ppc but have a hard time getting people to fill out our on-line request for measure form. We get plenty of clicks from people who want to sell us stuff. After 6 months I finally got an e-mail that someone filled out the form, got lucky and sold the job, the profit covered all of our web related expenses for a year.

If someone found the secret on how to get people to fill out the form, let me know>

Re: Website Response

Wow. I don't do PPC at the moment, and I am averaging 2-5 leads per week off my website. Total spent on the site $600, I think, and about $64/month keeps us in the top results in the search engines.

Since the last change, our website produces very good. We've had 570 visitors so far this month and 7 leads. Many of which have turned into jobs. Our website leads seem to be very good. This does not include probably another 10-15 more direct phone calls, all I have an absolute record of is estimate requests through the site.

I'll say it again. Cheap, effective, professional website. Aaron at www.footbridgemedia.com I'm not the first or last contractor from this site that has used footbridge, and I think most if not all of us are getting great results at a very good price. For the money, you can't beat them....I prommise.

Re: Website Response

wow, for 60 bucks a month you should be number 1 on google search for "aa paint"

you came up number 6

if you do following google searches:

"cupan paint" we're number 2

"cupan tile" we're number 2

(our free craigslist ad is number 1)

and we pay nothing for web hosting.
I designed and maintain the site.
And it was $25 to register domain.

Total cost of website: $25 and some time and effort

Re: Website Response

Why would I want to be listed good for "aa paint"???? People looking for my services aren't searching for my company name, and when they do, I'm in the first page of results, and I didn't lift a finger. My page rank has increased some recently and I come up #1 for terms my clients are searching for, and that includes many obscure search terms too.

How many hours do you spend on your site per month? Multiply that by your hourly rate and you'll see I'm doing quite well in comparison. Again, without lifting a finger.

I have my website, a personal marketing manager that does tons of stuff for me, leads (even if I only got 5 a month would cost me $12.80 each) and they are quality leads, I have an e-mail newsletter that is done for me each month AND another one ready for print every month, etc. etc. They've designed my biz cards, door hangers, and yard signs. I hope I didn't leave anything out.....Oh yeah, I forgot....I get updated news and articles added to my website to increase it's content every month like clockwork.

I built my first website myself and managed it the best I could but it was a TON of work. If you consider your time worth say $45/hr to do your job, you've costed yourself far more than I have and probably got a lot less in return.

My job is to sell paint work and build a business. Not to learn to build websites, learn all the ins and outs of SEO, do site submissions regularly, etc etc.

I'm a painter. I'll paint, footbridgemedia can handle my website. They do a great job at it.
