Stupid QB question

The question is: Can I use a QB 2007 contractor edition that has already been installed on someone else PC? The reason is this: I bought the Qb 2005 contractor edition and I loved it. Intuit offered me to upgrade to 2006. I declined because the 2005 worked great. They offered to upgrade to 2007. I declined because the 2005 worked great. My hard drive crashed which was running wxp so I decided to buy a laptop that was on sale. It has VISTA installed on it. That's when the realiztion that qb 2005 is incompatible. I called Intuit and they tell me the only solution is to purchase 2008 version. When I asked why did they offer to sell me the 2006 version when they knew it wasn't compatible with Vista she responds with "Let's no talk about 2006 version". I told her it was completely relevant that not only did I purchase the 2005 your company tried to get me to buy the 2006 version and on top of that I would have had to upgrade to atleast the 2007 version to get everything compatible!!!

I am trying to not have to buy the 2008 version if at all possible!!!!!

The problems with Windows Vista

I'm sure glad that I have not had to use Vista...there seems that everyone is having issues.

Under XP you could select the shortcut and modify the properties to run the program combatabiliy to work as far back as windows 95. Is that same thing available in Vista?

Don't know....just an idea.

Software companies stay alive by forcing users to upgrade....I think MS has their hand in this or is it the other way. Just when you have everything working just fine some mechanical thing breaks and you can never go back.

Vista has the same options to run as admin. etc......but there is still compatible issues....I think it was definitely unethical what they did...not illegal though...

I think you'll spend less money buying an xp and installing that over the vista. I reverted back after my printer (Canon) would not print in vista and that the company has no plans to release drivers for it.

That's just only one problem I had with vista.

I don't think the hardware on my laptop is compatible with xp...according to my Father in law....

He might be thinking about ram issues and such. Like you cant have 4GB of ram on XP unless you are running XP 64. If you do have 4GB and want to run regular XP thats fine it just only uses/sees 3GB.
