Spam Phone Text Messages.

Anyone else having problems with spam cell phone text messages? I've been getting from 3 to 5 each day from the same phone number; 000-000-0000. The messages are advertisements for shows that will be on TV that night. I called my cell phone company, and they said there's nothing they can do on their end, since the sender's number is encrypted to all zero's. The customer service lady even had the nerve to suggest that I signed up for these messages. She also suggested that I text the word "STOP" (which is supposed to stop all computer generated text messages), and that didnt' work. It seemed to increase the message frequency. I responded with "stop" several times. Anyone else got any suggestions? Another week of this, and I'm going to pitch the cell phone and switch to smoke signals.

I suppose call block will not work? In our system, which is a cooperative, we can block numbers...so if it is a "000" number, block all from that prefix.

Hmmm... I don't know if I can call block. Maybe I'll have to call the cell phone people and ask. They did offer to block all text messages, which I wasn't interested in. Sometimes my wife will text "I love you", which I'd sorta like to get.

Call the network that will be airing the show that they are advertising...

Tell them to find a better way to advertise... tell them to stop... if they dont tell them that you will start your own marketing campaign and start having every active member of these forums start calling them EVERY DAY... just to say Hi!!!

Watch Out!!

Those of you that text into shows like American Idol... Deal or No Deal etc... those networks now have your cell number... and it wouldnt surprise me if they use that to market you their shows...or even go as far as sell your numbers... I might be thinking a little over the top BUT...there are A LOT of networks and shows that ask you to "text" in.... u never know....

Oh Man! I get enough spam emails a day to chock a horse - now I have to start worrying about text messgae spam!

Thank goodness I haven't started getting them, yet...

Have you tried adding your cell number to the "Do Not Call" list? That should work.
