Do you see a 'setup' file?

Re: Someone...quick, Please Help
Just explore the zip file and look for a setup or exe program.
If all else fails, go back to the website and read the install instructions.

Re: Someone...quick, Please Help
InnovaStudio is Web-based editor so it probably works through your web browser. Check your web browser (it might be a browser plug-in)to see if it has added an icon to the tool bar or if it's an option? Maybe it needs to be installed on a server? What type of files are in the folder, the extentions?
From InnovaStudio Website: InnovaStudio WYSIWYG Editor is a web-based HTML Editor that easily integrates into your Web/HTML Forms as an ordinary <textarea> replacement. It is a cross-browser, 100% javascript code/object and requires only a few lines of code to include in your web page. Requirements IE5.5++ (Windows) Latest version of Netscape, Mozilla & Firefox (Windows & Mac OS X) Here is a link to a free html editor, Nvu (pronounced N-view), that's supposed to be similar to Dreamweaver, I have never tried it but I have been told it's an excellent program. http://www.nvu.com/index.php Description from their website: Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (which stands for "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML. I don't see anything on either my IE tool bar or FireFox, I just paid 70 bucks for this, so I would like to be able to use it

Re: Someone...quick, Please Help
Try reading the read me file, my guess is this is a server side application (if the files form the zip are php, and/or asp it most likely is) that needs to be on a server with either php, asp or cgi to work. Server side applications work by uploading them to a server and using them like you would the on-line editor from godaddy or yahoo.
I have InnovaStudio WebCMS 1.3 and it is a server side application and requires that it be uploaded to a server. Here is from the ReadMe file for InnovaStudio WebCMS 1.3, notice the bold " your web server", if this is in your ReadMe file it's a serverside application and won't work until you upload it to a server. *** Installation *** 1. Unzip the WebCMS package which consists of the following folders: WebCMS1 WebCMS2 WebCMS3 WebCMS4 WebCMS5 Each folder implements a sample website. 2. Copy all files from the example website you'd like to try to your web server 3. Give "Write" access permission to the 'database' and 'images' folders. 4. Open the default.asp *** Moving/Securing the database *** You can move the database file (easywebcms.mdb) to another folder (eg. for securing the database) & update the connection string defined in connection.asp (in folder 'includes'). On another note I downloaded Nvu, the zipped version that requires no install and tried it. It seams to be a very easy to use editor, I was able to make a web page in less than 5 minutes after download. |

Re: Someone...quick, Please Help
Ok, now we're getting somewhere lol, Mick, is a server the same thing as my host?
*** Installation *** 1. Unzip the package & copy all files into your web folder. (According to several examples, it is recomended that you copy all files into http://yourserver/Editor/ or http://localhost/Editor/) 2. To browse the examples, open default.htm (http://yourserver/Editor/default.htm or http://localhost/Editor/default.htm) |

Re: Someone...quick, Please Help
Sorry, it was getting late and I went to bed before your last response. Anyhow a "server" would be a place either on the internet (godaddy, yahoo etc) or on your hard drive that is set up with the needed modules (php or asp). Simply running it from a folder without the proper setup/modules won't work. If you have XP Pro, Microsoft has software that will let you do it from your computer, but it can be a little complex. I know you paid good money and want to get it working, if you have a space on the Internet (godaddy, yahoo etc) upload the files to your account, make sure you have the needed modules (php/asp) and give it a try. I got InnovaStudio WebCMS for someone that wanted to be able to update their website on-line, it was a real pain in the a$$, and the instructions provide are not that good. You might be better off with a standard program (exe) that runs on your computer, serverside programs are a pain in the a$$ and in my opinion can't do as nice of a job as a good HTML program like Dreamweaver or Front Page (I personally don't like Front Page but it is very user friendly), try that free one Nvu.
http://yourserver/Editor/default.htm Would be for example; you owned www.donb1959.com,if you had space on the internet, you would create a folder called "Editor" (case sensitive) and upload the files to that folder and then go to that address to use the program. http://www.donb1959.com/Editor/default.htm Last edited by mickeyco; 09-14-2006 at 09:20 AM. |

It is a cross-browser, 100% javascript code/object and requires only a few lines of code to include in your web page.
You need to find these "few lines of code" and put them in a blank .html file on your computer.

Re: Someone...quick, Please Help
You spent $70 and how much time?
One guy says it requires some code to publish. I once went to a house where a guy thought he could fix his furnace. He took off the thermostat, a switch, and cleaned his burners. But the furnace would not work. My technician went out there and he was leaking carbon monoxide into the system, and it kept shutting down. If he had fixed it, he would have killed his family, (ok maybe just his parakeet). My point is, you need to know code, design, have writing skills. Think about it.
