Quickbooks, Training Mode?

Does anyone know if Quickbooks has a training mode, where you can play with the program without screwing up the production version?

Re: Quickbooks, Training Mode?

It's called a sample company. when you install QB there are two sample companies installed. Another more realistic way is to make a copy of YOUR company file and call it Training ONLY Company name. Then you just use it and your information is in it. Looks more realistic. I do this when setting up business's for quick books.
The Installation of QB by default places your company file and all other QB files in C:\Program File\Intuit\QuickBooks2006 (year specific) and your company file is whatever you named it. Right click on the "Company File.QBW" and choose copy. Paste it onto your desk top and rename it to something like TRAINING ONLY Company file.qbw. Then copy that and paste it back into the QB directory. When you open QB choose to open a company file off the file menu and choose this TRAINING ONLY file.
The sample company files are also in in the same directory.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Essentially, this "sample" company does not interact at all with any of the other company's? How many company profiles does the program allow?

You are correct. Whatever company file you open has no effect on any other company file. There is no limit to how many company file you can have except for Windows limits on files which is allot. I don't remember how many but you won't get there :-)
