Problem Downloading Software? Administrator Rights.

I am trying to download some software and the program does a browser check before the download will begin to make sure I have the required plug-ins. I have everything I need but its saying I do not have administrator rights on my computer. I only have myself as a user on this computer and I am the administrator. Am I missing something here? I have already tried logging out and back in, restarted the computer (a few times), created another user and gave that profile administrator rights.

Any help would be appreciated.

Curt

The program is from off a website and it will not allow me to download it at all. It stops me before I get to the download page saying i'm not the administrator .

Vista right? Scary idea & I hope you trust this place - but close out all your browser windows & right click on IE or Firefox & click run as administrator - that should do it

Sorry I missed the browser part earlier

Re: Problem Downloading Software? Administrator Rights.

XP Home: Use the hidden account named 'Administrator' to log on

For XP Home users:
Boot the computer into Safe Mode
Do this by pressing the F8 key after the Power On Self Test is finished,
until the Start menu appears.
This will get you to the correct menu window.
Once in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account
and any other accounts.
The default password is a blank (no password required).

For XP Pro users:
You do not need to go into Safe Mode.
At the Welcome Screen, do/press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys twice to display the
Windows logon box.
Type in "Administrator" (without the quotes) and 'if' you assigned a
password when you set up Windows, then enter it. (Note: by default the
password is blank, no password need be entered)

Running a Computer ONLINE as an Administrator can be VERY DETRIMENTAL to the unit.

Re: Problem Downloading Software? Administrator Rights.

No guys, it's not ****, there's plenty of sites that I don't have to download software for that .

It is a program for my wife, she just started taking some college classes and she needed the program to do her homework. I finally got it working but it is still saying I am not the administrator, oh well. My wife left 2 hours early for class today to do her homework at the schools computer lab.

Anyways,..... I'm off to look at some **** .

Thanks for the help,
Curt

Re: Problem Downloading Software? Administrator Rights.

The example by Curapa is "an example" of the inability of downloads when "Non Administrator". THIS could save yer arse in the unfortunate incident of an attack.
