Coming home tonight: Yet another dipwad with a CrackerJack license. And one more reason I always have a dashcam running.

Driving into Kentucky Fried Fingers for lunch today.

Caution: I end up talking like a construction worker.

The guy had his reverse lights on when you pulled into the lot Sometimes you gotta look
If you were here you'd quickly learn you can't be doing that crap.

If I hadn't seen the backup lights, I never would have swerved to miss him.

But sometimes, you can't see backup lights........... when you're driving into the sun.

Because by the time I realized it was his back-up lights and not the sun shining through the tail-light assembly, I was already too close to stop. Had I stopped, I would have ended up directly behind him and he WOULD have hit me.

Trucks have mass. And mass in motion has inertia. To avoid getting hit I USED that inertia, along with my steering wheel, to carry the truck PAST and AWAY FROM the point of getting hit.

I'm sure all you Monday-morning quarterbacks have to watch the video twice to see if the backup lights were on.

I don't know about how operating a motor vehicle works in your world, but in my world, driving down the road, I don't get instant replays.

Re: Post Your Dash Cam Videos Here!

He obviously used defensive driving to avoid an accident. He was not in the wrong, the other guy was for not looking before backing up.

On the other hand I've been halfway out of my spot backing up, and people try to zip behind me. I'm starting to feel like it might be my civic duty to start ramming people so that in the future they might be more courteous to other drivers.

That's true wherever you get behind the wheel.

I used to have a bumper sticker that said, "CAUTION: I DRIVE LIKE YOU DO!"
