Point Of Sale Equipment For PC

Looking for point of sale equipment (scanner and credit card swipe) that can connect to PC for retail store transactions.
Anyone have any testimonials on a particular one and where could I get?

Also, is there software that can be used to keep inventory and deduct at point of sale, and keep track of reciepts?

Symbol makes good scanners. I'd have to check and see who makes our card swipe. We don't really use it. We are using Microsoft RMS for our POS/Inventory system but I can't really recommend it. There is too much expense and fine tuning to do with it. Quickbooks POS is probably a better way to go, and cheaper too. They actually have a system kit that has you cash drawer, scanner, etc. You just hook it up to your PC and install the software. You can download a demo of the Quickbooks product at www.intuit.com

I was checking out the Quickbooks POS software.
Looks pretty easy to use.
I don't really need a card swipe now cus the merchant account will give us a machine for credit cards.
A scanner would be good for inventory purposes though.
Where can I find that kit you're talking about with the cashdrawer and scanner?

Quickbooks/Intuit also sells all the items you need, or Dell computer sell complete kits with the Quickbooks POS.

You can generally get the kit through most office supply stores too like Staples.

I went to Best Buy and they had absolutely NO pos items.
I'll try Staples this weekend.
