Dump the game that didn't load. Clients aren't there for games. Work on your meta tags and put links in your sig for seo.

Re: Please Critique My Website

Not really.

In the head, before the body of the site,
This is from mine:
<title>Albert's Specialty Slate Roofing and Window Flashing Co., Richmond, Va.</title>
<meta name="Virginia Roof Leak Expert" content="Virginia Slate Roof Specialist">
<html>
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Richmond Virginia Slate and Copper Roofing Contractor,and Built-in-Gutter Specialist also skilled in Historic Preservation and Window Flashing,Richmond Virginia Roofer">
<meta name="Keywords" content=" Richmond area Slate Roofing,Historic Preservation,Slate Roofing,Copper Roofing,Leak Repairs,Siding Leaks and Window Flashing.">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<meta name="robots" content="index, follow" />
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta author="Albert's Specialty Roofing Co.">

Not that it can't take some tweaking, but it's Search Engine Friendly ( Search Engine Optimization)

Re: Please Critique My Website

Google spiders this site often and see my signature and the sites there. Also part of SEO. Seth and Carl could really help many of us here.

Re: Please Critique My Website

I added meta tags and keywords and registered with the various search engines. Any better? How about the blog idea of daily updates?

Blog idea is good if you like to write. I don't, but piddle with a blog some.
Put link in your sig wherever you post. All of these help.
I even post at DIY forums. SOme leads have developed from those posts too.

Re: Please Critique My Website

my criticisms...

you should just have on navigation menu, merge the top navigation (blog photos) with the lower one.

get rid of the website address in the top black heading, not needed, maybe put it in the footer if it's a must but not needed

ditch the animated "welcome" image, it gives the site an old feeling.

ditch the scrolling text at the bottom

make the stat counter invisible, use statcounter.com or google analytics

ditch the music, another feature that was cool in the early days of web design but now it's viewed as an unnecessary accessory.

if possible, get rid of the godaddy promotional stuff at the bottom

change up your fonts, it seems you have arial? everything arial is not very attractive. try some subtle color, possibly for the headings.

i like the header jigsaw image and navigational tape ruler background.

look at some other sites, competitor sites, and also some bigger companies in your industry that would act as the benchmark. the large websites have marketing teams that have gone over design with a magnifying glass. borrow concepts from them.

hey you're on the web, that is a great thing and i congratulate you for that. just gotta improve. web design is something that always needs updating though so it's a never ending process have fun though

Re: Please Critique My Website

My advice... LOSE THE MUSIC

Thanks! Other than that, it's not too pretty but it's decent. I've seen a lot of successful contractors with a lot worse sites than that.
