Re: Pda, Not Pda/phone???

Chris I could not get away from Palm Pilots, I tried for a few years but the shakes got to bad. I bought a new one to months ago, invested in pants with pockets on my legs and it now lives at my side. One of my 2008 goals thats coming together a little early is saving a few trees. Switching to a e-fax type of program to save a carton of paper a month. Since the new Palm Pilot has a built in wireless card I will be able to receive my faxes on it.

Re: Pda, Not Pda/phone???

links doug links I've always been a laptop guy, always in my van, but this pda stuff is uncharted waters for me. looking to go the pda route, not fond or impressed with phones out, at least not for their asking prices. Going back to good ole nokia "candy bar phone" and pda, plus I'm not too keen on having one considering it's not uncommon for my phone to be handeled with dripping wet sea water hands, and lying around among wet wetsuits and the like, att sucks

http://www.palm.com/us/products/handhelds/tx/index.html Link to my new one. The phone synchs with outlook so you don't have to use to Palm scheduling program. The larger screen kicks butt compared to a little cell phone one.

Why do everything through the phone?
A mini laptop at $349.00(fully loaded) and your regular cellphone.
These things are selling like crazy, they are the size of a VHS tape.
I ordered one, it's a fully functional laptop.
With internet everywhere these days and Google Apps
that should be all I need.

If not, it's cheap enough to be useful anyway.

Re: Pda, Not Pda/phone???

I have had HP pda's and Dell pda's. I like the HP's the best they seem to really know how to put together a good product.

Of course I am going to talk up my PDA phone (att tilt) but I could not live without it. But I also understand where you are coming from Bone, wet and pda phones dont mix well... and at thier price tag killing one would not be fun.

If you get a PDA I recomend a HARD case (rhinoskin is a brand name but there are others) http://www.cases.com Has good cases, good prices, and fast shipping.

Let me poke around and look at the HP's and see what I would buy if I was looking right now.

I like that 111 I dont really see that much of an advantage in the other 2 for the price they want them for. You can get SD cards if you want and store music, movies, pictures, and anything else on there. With bluetooth v2 you can do stereo bluetooth and leave your PDA on the deck and have tunes in your ears all day. Pair the headphones with your phone and when a call comes in it will cut out the music for you to take the call (not all bluetooth headphones support this).

I have a MotoQ, which is a bona fide PDA, however, it is also a phone. It runs Windows Mobile, and is easily synced with your home computer or laptop. The biggest problem that I have with it is that the screen is entirely to small. If I had to do it again, I would go with the iPhone, although I think it is only offered through Verizon.

The iphone is overpriced old technology. If you wanted a PDA phone get a tilt.

That's a nice phone too, I haven't seen it in action yet...How is the screen size, it seems a bit small?

Re: Pda, Not Pda/phone???

Bone, I have gone to first meetings with the pda phone and a tape. Its nice not having to drag a lot around. At that price I would sure be tempted to go and get one for myself. (not that I need it)

Shed, screen size is fine large enough to do everything I want to... and if you are really attached to the idea of an iphone you can get a skin that makes it look like an iphone. Its kind of dumb because they make much better skins out there but it is fun to confuse people with it.

The PDA's are ok but really limited in functionality. Unless you need the ability to carry around windows documents with you (Edit with Data Viz). You can get excellent service for email with a blackberry and the new pearl and curve are excellent phones also. I have a Pearl and I love it. The email is a breeze to set up and your emails are delivered to you immediately.

I had the Dell X51V before I got a PPC6700 and then the 6800. Loved all three of them but I can do so much more with the smartphone, I didnt need the PDA anymore.
