Paypal???

I have used paypal 4times in my life, once to pay for something I picked up on ebay like 6 years ago, and the other 3 times to receive payment for some items I sold on various forums. Every time it worked flawlessly like it should. For the most part my account has been inactive most of years. So I go to log on cause I want to bid on something on ebay and I get this:

This account has been permanently locked with a $0.00 USD balance. All information associated with this account has been blocked from the PayPal system and cannot be registered with another account.

I have called paypal about this and they just told me they sweep inactive accounts for security reasons and that was all they had to say about it. I can't see how going through and trashing inactive acounts and basically banning someone from creating another account is good for buisness. anyone else experience this???

Re: Paypal???

I think you should feel lucky that you found a number to call, and actually was able to talk to someone. I've heard they are horrible about customer service.

Re: Paypal???

I actually have found PayPal to be excellent. I use the their Payments Pro plan which allows me to take payments in the field as well as have a merchant gateway that is integrated into my R-A-D website. Returns and credits are issued in a very timely manner. I have had questions answered by customer service that were well informed and I did not have in inordinate wait time for a representative. In addition, their security and fraud division is very tight. On two separate occasions I made non-customary charges to my PayPal account via check card and they were on the phone with me almost instantly confirming the debits.

Re: Paypal???

I know when I was setting it up for my vacation rental home I could not talk to a human at all. In fact e-amil support took days and came back with a message saying they were extremly busy and would process my questions a.s.a.p.
That was months ago. I would hate to see what happens when there is a problem?

Re: Paypal???

All these large companies have sh*t for customer service. The experience I have had has been positive with PayPal. I have heard people have horror stories with Vonage and others that have said they were great. One thing you can count on with any of these megacorporations is for them to be sporadic in handling problems.. depends on whether your call is outsourced to Hong Kong or Bangladesh.

Re: Paypal???

I',v had PP now for quite some time(E-bay,work,Rental property) with a couple small problems...BUT
I have also heard some nightmare stories about it.
Check out Brickie's link to PP sucks .
Actually getting hold of a live person to talk to is an accomplishment in itself.

Did you ask whomevere you to spoke to about how to go about reopening an account?

For the Best advice on how to handle it would be to go to E-Bay ,then go to the Discussion Boards, and then go to the sellers board, tell them what happened ,and ask what to about it

Re: Paypal???

Look out for Google's shopping cart program - they're going after the paypal market.

Pretty smart setup. If you use adwords, you pay no fees on a 1:10 ratio. In other words... if you spend $100 a month on adwords... you can do $1000 in transactions without any fees. Above that amount is only 1% I think.

Re: Paypal???

The heartburn over paypal for me is when you sell something, it takes days to get it in your account, and I have noticed lately when I buy something, paypal takes a few days to clear the payment from me to the seller....and never a reason. I have a perfect eBay score and paypal history. I bought my enclosed trailer for the insulation machine on eBay and the seller appreciated the fact I sent him a $4000 cashiers check instead of paypal...

Re: Paypal???

Paypal works ok, as long as the buyer or seller will pay or send the product on the other end.

Cheers

Re: Paypal???

PayPal is okay (some unreasonable fees) until you have problem, there customer service is right up there with AOL's. If someone disputes a charge they seize all the funds in your account, so always transfer your money out as soon as possible (they're taking even longer to transfer the money, 5-7 days sometimes when you know it can be done almost immediately). I transfer money from PayPal to the bank account they can access, then to another bank account they can't get to, because they will take funds from your bank for a dispute. I also don't like they way they constantly try to trick you into using their service.
