Online Project Management

Came across a new "web office" setup, OpenGoo (opengoo.org)

Been testing it out, it's pretty slick.

Calendar, tasks, milestones, contacts, notes, file library, ability to edit "word" docs right online, and more.

I'm looking at it primarily as a client collaboration setup, but possibly replace eGroupware with this at some point.

It's free, open source software that you install on your own server. Check it out.

This is kinda hot... I'm already liking it a bit more than eGroupware... the make or break will be the server requirements (still reading the manual and playing with the demo). Thanks for the link!

Re: Online Project Management

Right now, I am thinking this is going to replace ProjectPier for my client area. Not sure I can use it to replace my contacts from eGroupware yet... missing a couple key features... most importantly being able to group my contacts into a group and export them for putting together bid invitations and such.

But... I may be able to code something up to handle that on my own, we'll see.

I've looked at the database tables for eGroupware (I have it installed on one of my test web servers and I forgot my password so I had to hack it); it's pretty straight forward, particularly with the contacts. Once you know how OpenGoo handles contact data it shouldn't take too long to write a conversion script. Matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has already done it or working on it since this package just went 1.0...

Have anyone been using this lately? Like & dislike?

I just found this thread through a search. I'll try to install the software sometime this weekends to see how it is.

Another one you might want to look at is Zoho. It's free for up to 3 users and has pretty much everything I need to manage my day to day work, projects, and if you want some areas to be powerful like invoicing, employee/vendor management, or project management you can upgrade only those areas for a few bucks a month. url is www.zoho.com

Cheers

We use Basecamp today from 37Signals but we've recently started looking elsewhere. We like what we see from Traffic (from a company called Sohnar)

Re: Online Project Management

I installed Feng Office on my website & tried out a little. First impression is great.

- Clean enough layout
- I think it's easy learning curve
- No monthly fee ( ) 'cause it's on my site.
- Can upload photos & have client comment on it.
- I'm still on a learn - so that's all I got so far
- Have any one else used it extensively yet? Tips and tricks to share?

Thanks.
