Office Phones (hard Line)

I'm looking for new two-line phones. My local cable company has got on board with business phone service and I'm there. I want a new phone to celebrate my divorce from the phone company.

Portable handset, headphone, speakerphone, no answering machine, large LCD and buttons, address book.

Anyone have the perfect phone?

I am so jealous. I would LOVE to sever my ties to Embarq (aka Sprint). Their service is crappy and their prices are sky-high.

I have wondered how that effects yellow page listings particularly the verizon yellow book where all of my cold calls come from. I have had one commercial phone number for over 25 years that i took with me when i moved a few towns over 12 years ago and the newer commercial number I had to get when moving. these are costing me plenty but i am reluctant to lose my yellow page spot.

My old (I love saying that: old phone company) phone company charges for incoming and outgoing minutes. Comcast Cable charges a flat rate of 59.99 with full monthly reports....I'm in clerical bliss!

Cable company has full portability rights. It will take 9 days to move the number to their system.

They can also do business expansion lines (virtual lines).

I should have named this thread "Cable Does Business Phones".

When we moved our shop two years ago we bought a Panasonic phone system that we are very happy with.

Panasonic are "probably" more dependable than other brands. We have a ONE line, three handset system from Panasonic (KX-TG5423) - 5.8 GHz. Good features including 50 name "phonebook", lots of last incoming number stored (about 50). Good battery life, headset jack, speaker phone in the handset, intercom, can transfer call from one handset to another. Seriously, pretty good. The biggest flaw is the hype about 5.8 GHz going through walls. 4 or 5 seems to be the limit. But without walls, the range is good, about 175 feet going through one outside wall and unobstructed to the property line, if my estimate is correct.

If they make a two line with similar features, I'd recommend it.

Re: Office Phones (hard Line)

I have a 2 line Comcast setup, free long distance and goodbye Qwest. Radio Shack 2 line phones. I get all my faxes through my email, no more junk faxes. I use my cell phone number for an office number. I answer the phone Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30 pm. This has been my favorite setup so far, and costs is a lot less than having and paying for a business account. I transferred my old office number to my cell phone, so I have had the same number for 12 years.

Verizon for internet, vonage for office lines. Panasonic 2 line phone with bluetooth. You can answer your cell phone from the panasonic phone. It is so damn cool. I use an answering service and return calls between 2-5pm unless its important, I have an live answering service that emails me and texts to my phone asap after a message is recieved and faxes a daily report to the office at the end of the day

Re: Office Phones (hard Line)

I use an old Panther 3-line telephone system with 6 sets that I bought off of eBay for $1.

I have the PBX in the closet down stairs, 2 Vonage (yuck) lines fed into it. I can do whole house paging, hold music, everything.. Just no display so you know who is calling.

If you don't have a big office, I might recommend the older Nortel stuff. They were built to last. I still have my old Meridian M9316 which was great. There was a 2-line model too. However if looking to purchase these, you may need to eBay them out of Canada since Nortel pretty much had an exclusive on the telephone market here for many many years.

you can still buy phonebook space, even if the publisher is not your carrier.

Re: Office Phones (hard Line)

For you guys with a home-office.

25 years ago I switched to this.

Business line, measured service, incoming calls only.

Personal line, regular service, all outgoing calls.

Get two lines for less than the price of a single business line.

As for dumping Quest (phone company) for Comcast (cable company) there is ample reason to hate them both the same.

Re: Office Phones (hard Line)

new setup for the company- toll free number from tollfreenumbers.com cost of $50 one time fee for vanity number. Cost of virtual pbx system and fax $10 a month. VOIP main line and cell. Having a professional greeting and being able to grow into a new office without troubles - priceless.
