I love it, and couldn't live without it.

I am the worst person about keeping receipts so it has saved me a ton of time not having to look for them.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

This thing is AWSOME! Scan recipt, software automatically picks up on things like vendor, time, date, price, cash or credit etc etc, and enters it in a register which can be put in customizeable expence folders and imported to Quickbooks. From now on recipts go right into jobfolders and stay there forever, and checking my creditcard statements will be done on my screen instead of a pile of recipts. http://www.neatreceipts.com/index.asp

I was thinkin of pickin this up sometime. Have you tried it yet? I heard it had trouble picking up info off yellow receipts. Eager to hear what you think.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

So far I love this thing, it will pick pick up on and and enter data on most major retail receipts, and will recognize repetative reciepts from non recognized vendors. It wont recognize yellow receipts, large invoices, handwritten, or other non standardized/computerized receipts. However the software is waht makes this thing great, simple drop arrow boxes make easy work of manual data entry.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

So what will it do that my full size scanner, printer, fax machine won't.

It actually reads the data off receipts like from HD and then what?

I literally have stacks of receipts sitting on my desk.

thanks,

Bruce

I never said anything bout it being better than anything. Just a neat way to organize reciepts with minimal manuel data entry

What does one of those cost in the U.S.? I saw it here for $250 Cdn. Seems a lot when I can buy a whole computer for $500.00

I just bought one on Amazon, for (USD) 169.00. Once I get comfortable with it, I will report back.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

As a "collector" of tools I find no greater joy than purchasing a tool that imediately proves its worth in the first hour of use. I would recommend the neat receipts scanner to anyone. Look for it in staples (where i stumbled upon it).

To answer an earlier question.... If you have a flatbed scanner / all in one, you still need this little machine for 3 reasons.

1. The software is updated regularly with the latest character recognition available, so just feed the reciept into it and it automatically saves the image of the receipt (so you can throw it away), and then inputs the important data (dates, store name, tax, total) into a spreadsheet that you can organize anyway you want.

2. The time it takes to set a small receipt into a flatbed, shut the cover, scan, crop the image, and then store in some organized fashion is 10 times as long as this device which you just put the edge of the receipt into the slot and push the button, it draws it through automatically.

3. You can easily bring this on the road, if you bring a laptop, where a flatbed scanner would be out of the question.

I would recommend it to anyone. It will greatly speed up anyone's financial tracking, and reduce the shoe box of receipts down to a single cdr.

Got mine yesterday for $148 total after taxes and shipping from SAM'S Club.

In my humble opinion it trully is the Cat's Ass.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

I've had one for 2 1/2 years or so, and I like it. Of course it is not perfect, but it is a far cry better than having a ton of receipts piled on the desk. I'd give it an 8 out of 10 as far as overall performance.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

how mobile are you with it. i looked at one and was a little skeptical. now that i know there are others that are using it, it makes me feel a little better. only prob is 50% of my reciepts are yellow and 8 1/2x11, 10% are handwritten, and the rest could be scanned. i could handle inputting the handwritten manually, if it can be managed manually, but if it can't recognize the yellow, no sale.

Re: Neat Recipts Scanilizer

I looked into to something similar about a year ago but I don't think it was the same brand. Ended up not getting but after seeing this thread revived, I am not curious again.

Are most of you that have and like this product using the mobile or the desktop? Seems to me if it makes it to the desktop that is over half the battle and it is just as easy to key it to Quickbooks.

Thanks for any additional input!

We bought the mobile version to try out first since it was so cheap - but can definately see how the NeatDesk version would be even better. My secretary loves it and has just started entering her rolledex full of B-cards.

If I was entering everything myself I would spend the extra money for the NeatDesk; but since she needs to stay busy anyway I will just keep the cheap mobile version.
