Multiple Monitors

This may be stupid but how many run more than one monitor? I was goofing around and realized that I could double my desktop space and hook up another monitor and have two full sized displays. I had the old monitor and hooked it up and have it set up now to use both. Seriously though I've only had a computer for maybe 2 years at the most and just don't have it all figured out yet but I try.

This ought to be good for a laugh.

Re: Multiple Monitors

I do. My notebook is on my desk and I have a wireless keyboard/mouse and monitor across the room.

Re: Multiple Monitors

Cool. I was curious about people that have them side by side so they can be working on one and still keep up with the forums on the other.

Can you do that?? I don't know if you can have a different window up on each monitor, but it would be cool if you could. I've only seen monitor splitters (like in retail stores for displays) that show the same thing on every monitor.

Re: Multiple Monitors

I'm doing it right now. I can have one site on one monitor and another on the other monitor and can make the mouse go from one monitor to the other by dragging the cursor to the edge and it moves on to the other monitor.

There was a site that explained that....a lot of 'gamers' do that.
If I find it I will add it....

Re: Multiple Monitors

Come to think of it, that's the way a lot of these day trader guys are set up. 3 or 4 monitors with different stuff on each of them. I just assumed that they had some special video card.

Re: Multiple Monitors

Here is one that I found real quick. It's not the one I found awhile ago but it is the same information.

Re: Multiple Monitors

Yeah, Yeah, I just found this information out about an hour ago and I am already searching for another monitor to match my new one. The old monitor is a different size and not a flat screen. It took me about 30 minutes to get them lined up so that everything is the same size and the cursor goes across at the same place and not jump up or down.

Re: Multiple Monitors

I do it through wireless but not exactly the same. Moving my cursor to the extreme will not cause a transfer to the other screen. I'm curious. This computer is hard wired, my laptop is wireless and my work station is autonomous.

Re: Multiple Monitors

I'm running my flat screen pc monitor and also can hook up my 42 LCD Sony Hi-Def t.v thru my HDMI cable/DVI cable. It's a piece of cake to run dual monitors with right video card with enough RAM. I'm running ATI 256 DDR vid card

Hmmmm you might find a converter for it but not quite sure the picture tube can handle it .

Re: Multiple Monitors

its is definitely cool. when i was doing some computer security work for a federal agency, we had a bank of 4 monitors tied into one of our systems. it was really cool until you had several alerts all going off at once.

Re: Multiple Monitors

I wouldn't know what to do without my dual monitors. I multi-task too much.

^^This is the key to dual monitors, the video card. You can by them almost anywhere these days.
