JLC Article About Tablet Computers

JLC has a great article about a guy switching over to a tablet computer. He was able to manage doing 2-3 projects at the same time to doing 6-7 without having to hire a production manager thanks to his tablet PC. Good practical article if you are looking for ways to increase productivity or grow without more overhead. Also a good insight into some software that works well with the construction industry. I know for me trying to figure out what really works and doesn't work well for construction in terms of software is always a problem. They do a good job describing exactly how he uses each package in his work.

Yeah, Mike - - even though my small operation doesn't have the need for one, - - it really was interesting. Even tempting . . .

Thanks Mike, great article.
Maybe the paperless office is still possible.
You should see my recycling bin every day.
You would think if a builder can benefit from it, why wouldn't anyone else.
I wonder if models that cost less than 4,000 can give you similar benefits.

I use the gateway tablet it is a regular laptop that you can rotate the screen around and fold in down flat. Worth the money for me.

I can do real time 3d modeling, plans, anything office related, presentations and make omlettes on my tablet pc. Plus the advantage of having the digital notepad has made my life easier. Im loathe to say this but OneNote I believe its called is actually a very powerfull program IMO for keeping all your job info in one place. I use it all the time and im surprised how well the table pc os works. Mine was a refurb for about $800 + shipping & tax from gateway. And there are plenty in between mine and 4k that will do the job.

As far as the paperless office, just use an office computer to recieve the faxes and you can sign everything on screen. Yet there is always someone who needs a hardcopy...
