Integrated Job Clocks.

I would like to know why a company like Black Berry or any communications company has not designed a time clock for small business owners that can be integrated into the wireless phone technology. Someone has designed a remote to get rid of all the other singular remotes in the house and integrate them into one. Now granted we have phones that can take pictures, text message, send and receive emails and do almost everything else. Why not track time spent on jobs ,there is time clocks but not all integrated into one.

Does this not seem like a no brainer or is it already being done and I can not find the supplier.

There are programs that can be added to Windows Mobile or Pocket PC phones. I don't know about blackberry. I think there are also web solutions that could be accessed from a web enabled phone.
I just searched for - mobile phone time clock - and plenty came up.

Everything that I am finding is independent of the phones that everyone is already carrying. Iphone is all about music personal items. You can watch **** while writing a thesis but can not track employees on the phone that is supplied to them. The consumer needs to have two very different systems doing what each already of the ability to do as one.

Yes it needs to be independent of the device. There is not a big enough market for this to be pre-installed, and every phone and every carrier has it's own operating system. It's a nightmare to try to design any piece of software to run on more than a couple of devices (an industry without standards). I think the web is best for this, almost every current device can access the web with somewhat of limited standards (except for verizon network).

I have also seen mobile devices that you can put on a job site and upload the data at the end of the week.

Most phones are geared for personal use.
The exceptions would be Blackberry, Windows Mobile and some of the Windows Smart phones. The big draw back here is the cost and some have a steep learning curve for an employee who may only use one or two functions outside the phone.

Maybe an automated phone type system, they call a number put in a personal pin + a job site pin and the system does the rest.

Similarly I was looking for some software for my device to track my billable time to clients for consulting and the like. I couldn't find anything simple enough to persuade me out of my pen and paper.

nextel has an option for the phones but it will cost you. You get GPS, tracking and time clock. Phone with radio and program was about $90 a month per phone.

WoodMagMan,

It looks like Verizon may have what you're looking for. They call it Field Force Manager.

I'm in the process of starting up a new remodeling/handyman company and am really trying to make use of technology to make things run a little smoother. I haven't used this Verizon product but from the looks of it on their web site, it may just fit the bill.

I hope this helps. Let us all know what you end up with.
