How Many Sketchup Users Out There

Just curious to see how many Sketchup users out there?

We use Sketchup for Bath Remodel presentations.

Attached is latest project image. It's vanilla though. No textures yet.

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

It is very nice to work with. I haven't had time to get way into it. I know VRay came out with their plug in for it. That should make things almost lifelike.

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

I've downloaded it and messed with it for several hours, but I couldn't figure it out, especially with the detail you've achieved. I'm not ignorant to computer s or their programs, but I had trouble with Sketchup..
How long have you been using?
How long did it take you to actually get the hang of it too?

Here's a drawing I did that sold the job. Lotsa people can't 'see' plans, sketchup helps big time.

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

yes, drop Vista like a bad habit. It's bad, bad, bad! Not much works with it. It might later. SketchUp should work, but depends on your version

My desktop is Vista, my laptop is XP, will try it on my laptop, kinda hard to drop Vista since it is the operating system on this new PC.

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

Windows Vista reminds me of Windows 98
in the aspect that it came out too early and has way too many bugs

Nice deck RobertCDF
I like the roof over it
and the finials, if that's what you call them (the jobbies that cap the posts)
I like the copper ones.

The best thing about Sketchup is bringing your laptop to the estimate and doing a virtual walkthrough with your customer.
I like setting up different camera angles and clicking to zoom to the next scene.

Thanks Matt, the posts and caps will be stucco and the wall panels will be as well.

I sold this job by showing them this drawing on my laptop. I dont think they even spoke to any other contractors.

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

That's a lot of stucco.

You don't do it the cheesy way with styrophome do you?

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

And here's the model with some textures.
I don't like how the travertine mosaic came out though.
Should render it in Kerkythea to get better texture.

Re: How Many Sketchup Users Out There

Matt, the stucco will be an acylic stucco. The only styrofoam that would be used would be on the detail build outs. Then it is covered with 3/4 -1" of stucco/scratch coat.
