In Itunes under "Advanced" on the top menu there is an option to create MP3 version. Then just drag it ti your MP3 player.

You have to buy the DRM free songs from itunes.
But there's good news (sarcasm)-for just thirty cents per song, you upgrade already purchased drm songs to drm free songs.

Not necessarily true. His headline says songs from iTunes to mp3. You cannot control the file format downloaded from iTunes. There are 2 ways to do this:
1) Set iTunes to burn music it as CD audio. This will create a CD that can be played on any traditional CD player. After you do this, now rip it back into iTunes as mp3. You need to adjust that setting before ripping too.
2) Search for software that will convert m4p format to mp3. It may or may not be available.

I don't that works on the protected songs from itunes. Unless they changed it.
If you are importing from a cd: Edit>Preferences>General Tab>Import Settings (beside "When You Import a CD" > Import Using: select mp3 Encoder

We need clarification then: itunes as in itunes library (which can include cd's) or itunes store? I would assume he means itunes store.

It took it as downloading songs from iTunes store. Otherwise, if just ripping a CD into iTunes, you can control the format it will appear (mp3).

Before you do that, you have to change import settings to use mp3 encoder.
I just tried for the helluvit. My cd's were imported as aac, and I can convert them to mp3.
Purchased music-right click track, Get info-shows Purchased aac or protected aac.
The "purchased aac" gives me the convert to mp3 option on right click.
The "protected aac" gives no conversion option on right click.
Using Advanced Tab:
Purchased: allows me to convert to mp3
Protected: I get the message that protected files cannot be converted.

Good to know. In the past, you didn't have a choice. The way around it was to take purchased music and burn as CD audio - then rip back into iTunes as mp3.
Doing it that way also removes the DRM

Try what I suggested if you have blank CDs lying around. Whole albums only otherwise when you attempt to rip individual songs from CD audio to mp3, the titles won't automatically update.

That's too much hassle for me. I like simplicity, and I'll spend the extra thirty cents to get it.
I only have five songs purchased from itunes and over 900 cd's. What a joy that was importing it all.
Still-there's gotta be a way. Some software somewhere? If I had more invested I'd try harder to find it. Pretty ty deal on itunes part, imo.

I agree but if you NEED to do it, that will work. I'm like you with a massive personal music collection before the advent of iTunes. My iTunes purchases are pretty low. I'm a part of a survey group where I take surveys and get payment in itunes credit. Regardless, most of my music is already in mp3 format. When I d/l something from itunes, I convert it in the manner I described. Much easier to do with small quantities.
OR
Just try the conversion software!!!!
