Google Links To CT Posts

Snooping through some of your websites and backtracking your google links I have come to realize that google is recognizing your CT sig backlinks for some people's posts.

I did not think google recognized forum backlinks. Also, while yahoo recognizes almost 400 links pointing to my site, most of them from CT, google recognizes zero.

I wonder what the difference is between the ones google recognizes and does not?

I used to post at a Trivia site and nearly all my posts, at one time in the past, Googled by my name. "MonkeyOnALeash", showed up! Not so much any more........

Related forum signature backlinks are one of the most powerful devices for those that want to be discovered. Off-Topic signature back-links are less worthwhile, but you also should be aware that offensive postings could be traced back to you and your signature linked site.

Re: Google Links To CT Posts

CT software i guess is not configured to put "nofollow" code into the hyperlinks posted, But apparently every single directory i have found my site in does. And there are many. As they don't show up as external links. yet i know for a fact they link to my site. What I don't understand is, why is google recognizing those nofollows and excluding legitimate links specifically designed to lead directory clients to my site anyway?

Go to Google---->sign into your account----->go to webmaster tools----->.select your website-----> select links---->

and you should find a whole bunch of them...hundreds or thousands in some cases.

If you don't have a Google webmaster's account, sign up now they are waiving the monthly fee (reg price $150) all new accounts get a lifetime membership for free. Ok, I made some of that up, really there is no excuse for for not having such a good tool.

Links with the nofollow attribute will still be functional links the site linked to will not get ranking credit for the link though.

when Google sees the attribute (rel="nofollow") on hyperlinks, those links won't get any credit when we rank websites in our search results. This isn't a negative vote for the site where the comment was posted; it's just a way to make sure that spammers get no benefit from abusing public areas like blog comments, trackbacks, and referrer lists. source
