Foiling Junk Mailers


As all who own domains know, the public records of such are fertile fishing grounds for solicitors. Well, being sick and tired of junk mail and spam, I made one little change on the contact info for one of my domains (warch.com). For the "registrant" I entered a name that would amply warn me when receiving junk mail generated by a mailbot that harvested my info and automatically sent me crap.

Well here, the letter received today explains it better. Note the first line of the address. Each time I receive one of these, my whole day is made better. BTW, I do love the irony of the Personal and Confidential note on it :

That's awesome. You can opt for "Private Registration" and pay a small fee, or simply use a totally bogus address in your domain registration info.

That was something i liked about 1and1 hosting. the private registration is a free service.
