Domain Renewal Group Bad Scam??

This is a FYI.

I received a snail mail letter from Domain Renewal Group saying that my domain name registration was up in January.

From all I have reading on line is that this is a big scam in order to claim your domain name for themselves.

Unless someone here has different knowledge this letter is getting shredded.

BTW I never knew that fine print (on the back) could be so small.

So please becareful out there.

Les

Your welcome.

For what it is worth I almost got involved with something else and didn't. Mighty glad I did. Hope it helped others.

As a seller, I can assure you it's a scam.

If you value your domain name, you'll renew it, or them, for multi-year contracts. Not yearly! At $6.95 to $7.49 a year, it's a small price to pay for 10 year renewals!

If you don't want to recieve these register your domain contact as private. Most companies offer this option now and many do it for free. I know GoDaddy charges an extra fee for private registration.
Your info is out there for the public, so far these are the only type of companies taking advantage of it.

You can change your contact data for free and make up fake stuff.......the chances of someone reporting it is very slim.

I'm pretty sure that namecheap.com offers the free private registration.

You should only get renewal notices from the company who you've registered your domain name. I use godaddy and they've never sent me snail mail. All my alets are emailed to me.

Turn off your auto renew and they will send you snail mail. BTW, if you are using Godaddy Google "godaddy coupons" and use the coupon codes for your purchases.

I get them all the time since I own 23 domains. I pay like 5 a year for each of them. These guys want to charge 39 ea per year... what a bunch of morons if they think I will fall for that.

As somebody the frequents the 'Domainer's Forums' and keep track of this stuff, I can assure you that you can lose your domain if the info is wrong.

I never maked any of mine as private, but I offer private registrations also. It's a cheap way to avoid those mailings. Me, I just mail them to anybody else that sends me a Postage Paid envelope. Let them throw it away.
