Re: Comcast Business Account

Are you sure it included sharepoint? That seems kinda odd. Are you going to use it?

Positive about the sharepoint. I think I will for my customers allowance sheets, contracts, draw schedules and pictures

Knowing the way Comcast lures residential service with a cheap price, then slowly slips in hidden fee's and upgrades...hopefully you got a good deal thats set at that rate for awhile.

Another thing...
Someone once posted a speed detection service on this forum, maybe a year ago.
I checked in at 100mbps, my computers internet connection displays 100 as my speed, yet I see a lot of mention of substantially lower speeds like the one you posted above...is that DSL?

Its not dsl it's comcastic. Comcast is similar but they always boast of higher speeds than dsl. I have residential comcast now and the speeds are spot on except for very large files. The business accounts don't have any upload/download restrictions like residential and that is noted on the contract I signed.

I have the speed detection software on my main computer so I will check it when it's switches over

Re: Comcast Business Account

We have the Comcast business internet, but we didn't get the phone lines. I am still going to stay with the old phone service that works when the power is out. Thats the one reason I won't switch to VOIP phone service yet.

They make these things called UPS's now. You should check them out.

Speaking of which, I know you work in DC, so you might want to know this if you don't already. There are several manufacturers who make indoor generators sized for residential type loads. You just need to have the plumber run the exhaust pipe outdoors. That's good for cramped neighborhoods, where you don't have a spot for an outdoor genset. You might know about indoor generators already, since they're pretty popular in commercial work.

Re: Comcast Business Account

We do have a standby generator, a liquid cooled propane 45KW unit.

And for the last few years with the winter storms we have had, a big UPS unit would barely make it since the power has been out up to 3 to 7 days at a time.

And if everything goes wrong the phone may still work, but there was one time when that was no good too. Then at least the cell phone worked, the cell towers out here in the country have standby generators.

Did not know of them. Thanks for the heads up.

A manufacture or a link would put you high up in my book like say 50th or so

Ne'ermind...took that speed test and I'm 15000 & 2500..I'm gonna guess the 100 is a combined total my pc network reads as.

I'll guess having a dozen browser tabs and several programs running doesn't help either.
