Re: Chrome By Google

I can definitely see the difference in speed. I read the "comic book" earlier in the week. Definitely quicker. But I liked having my "favorites" out and open along the left side of the screen with IE7. Now I have to click and drop to get them. I also haven't had a single problem with Chrome yet, where I used to have IE7 crash once a day. I like it.

Also, for some reason the text is a lot smaller in Chrome. I've got a PC that's set up for heavy CAD use, but when Chrome starts I can hardly read some of the web pages because the font is so small. I'll probably have to resort to setting the PC display to work in Chrome, and change it back whenever I start AutoCad.

I have it. My Norton Identity Safe tool bar doesn't work with it. Firefox works just as fast on my computer so I'll keep using that. I also have the new Internet Explorer 8.

That right there is enough for me to avoid IE at all costs.

I wouldn't buy a Ford or a Chevy if they were selling the 2009 F150/1500 Version 8.0, would you?

All my tech friends say they won't touch it till it's out of the beta stage, as well as a couple issues apparantly with vista still.....don't know from personal experience, just trust their knowledge of these things.....i'll keep using Firefox till they say go!!

Re: Chrome By Google

Arggh. First problem. I had nascar's web site up, and those little advertising pop ups caused a default. A zillion Chrome "cannot open pop-up" errors filled my screen and I had to go to Windows Task Manager to end the process. Criminy.

Re: Chrome By Google

Keep in mind it's in BETA.

There have been a few security issues found already.
Despite what it says about sandboxing each tab so it won't crash the whole browser there are sites that DO crash the whole browser.
It's having issues importing bookmarks from what I've heard.

All those issues should be resolved by the time it hits full release. My main problem is that, just like virtually all the software Google makes, its primary underlying purpose is to collect user data so they know how to focus their advertising on you.

What else is the Internet for??? Advertising and ****!!!

And Yes! EVERY key stroke while browsing is monitored by Google. But the same goes for IE (Microshaft. Sorry! Microsoft.)

Re: Chrome By Google

Yes I don't use IE either. Once Chrome is fully released we'll see how data collection is used and then if it can make use of all the extensions available for Firefox then I'll consider it as a possibility for my main browser. Honestly though, unless there is some major improvement in it over Firefox, I can't see myself switching.

I have been until last week, an AVID FF user. Chrome is MUCH better!!!! Especially since I am ALWAYS downloading 350 Meg - 20 Gigs of media while browsing. Chrome is MUCH faster. (presently 60.6 Gigs at a rate of 120 Kbs and upload of twice that rate!)

I no longer use FF3.

Glitches????? Of course. But very few.

Anyone know how to properly "bookmark this page" in Chrome???

Re: Chrome By Google

Chrome has some security issues and I love my FF plugins so I'm sticking to FF2. I'm a late adopter when it comes to tech on my business machine though. If I had a "home" computer I'd be all over it.

Y'all do recognize that Google keeps EVERY scrap of info about you FOREVER.

Most of the others dump after 30-90 days. Google is setting up to become the largest personal database in the world if they aren't already.

Re: Chrome By Google

Since the government of the US has already installed devices to monitor ALL electronic communication, record and analyze it, not big deal if google checks out my cache and figures out I like young brunettes with questionable morals and worse judgment. hehehe

That seems to be it!!!! A bit of a lengthy procedure for a single, simple Bookmark, but it does work!

THANKS!!!!!!

Not sure I like the way Google stores your info like forever. I have a gmail account that still somehow has every email I have ever gotten on it, even after I have deleted it many times directly from the web interface.
