Blogs--what Do You Write?
For those of you that use blogs, what do you write?
I have two, one is a freebee at worldpress but the search engines do not read it that often and not very well. The other one is part of my new web-site and the search engines read it on a regular basis. I tested a post that is rich with keywords and it works very well but does not read that well. What do you folks include in order to make the post not look like a bunch of keywords?

Re: Blogs--what Do You Write?
Hey Doug,
I'm personally not a big fan of blogs for search engine rankings - how often do you see someone's blog rank for the keywords that relate to your business? Blogs are, however, an EXCELLENT method for communicating with your list - or people you have built relationships with. Like everyone says, write about what you know. Don't worry with SEO and keyword density crap as much for blogs. Write short entries, point links to outside sorces your readers would find useful, ask them to participate and post comments - build your community. And, of course, the random plug to your business and services. Also - you can submit your blog to blog directories - just like your site. These are directories that people search through to find blogs on topics of their interest. I do recommend using good keyword selection in the titles and descriptions you submit to these directories. These are what searches are usually completed off of. I'd recommend general terms in the title, such as home improvement, contractor, drywall, chicago, etc. Here's a good list of directories to start with - http://directory.google.com/Top/Comp...s/Directories/ Hope this helps! Damion

Re: Blogs--what Do You Write?
DougChips,
I am looking at my WordPress Blog site as a tool to use to provide a more in depth look at my solutions to consumers problems. It is another resource I can utilize to direct the HO and other consumers I am in contact with to receive a further education in more detail about certain problems which continually occur. I don't think it has the same capabilities as a company web-site, but can be a tool to further expand on your web-sites content and information base, so as not to bog down your web-site with too much clutter of topics and thoughts and information overload. Also, another good add on tool, (just speculating), is a Photo Forum, which I just posted about in the business section. Keep the clutter and download time of your web-site to a minimum, but have additional resources available for those who want them. Ed P.S. Off subject. How was your vacation trip? I figured you would be gone longer than you were, but maybe you are posting from a beach in Cancun or from an under-water laptop in Cozumel, huh? Re: Blogs--what Do You Write?
Well I guess it is time for me to enter the forum with something to say, instead of just lurking. For the last month or three I have been reading quite intently, mostly on the Technology, Marketing and Business sections, and have learnt a lot.
Ed I have, and am in the process of doing some of the things that you are talking about pertaining to Blogs, Forums and website info in general. In the last couple of months I have added to my website FAQ's, Photo section, forums as well as articles that I have written for a local newspaper, in hope that I can better inform customers, and add to my credibility. The response has been positive for the most part and has cut down on the one question phone calls. I think you have some good ideas , so just keep posting Brian

Re: Blogs--what Do You Write?
Damion, thats for the info. My site blog actually shows up when I search google. I will have to work on writing some interesting stuff.
Ed, I'll look into the photo forum thing. Cancun trip is over, had tons of fun with cell phoneS, fax machines, kids, and the internet. I figured that I would get the shakes not being on-line for 4-5 days. Fishing trip this Friday-Monday then I have to get back to work. Nobull, welcome to the site! Post in the intro forum so everyone can say hi and ask questions.
