I'll be replacing my crappy cell phone soon, and I'm hoping to have some better luck with something that holds a charge for a while. I'm pretty good about not dropping it too hard :whistling , so it doesn't have to be indestructable, just functional. I could care less about the bells and whistles either, I work for a living. Any suggestions? I'm on Verizion right now, and I like the service in my area.
my wife's gettin' me the "razor"...it's pretty cheap if you order it online--it's got a camera, bluetooth, speakerphone, navigation, etc.....I call those features necessary not bells and whistles...but that's just me--
they make a much more basic phone though--you'll get a camera and number pad, that's about as basic as they come these days
I had one that I gave to my office manager. I keep track of how many times I drop a phone, it lived for 11 of my drops and a few for her. Some how her kids killed it. They are a great phone.
I generally go for the phone that you can just type in numbers, and nothing else. All I need are the digits zero through nine, and the pound and the star. If it does other stuff, I don't need it. My newest one does take (crappy) pictures, and I do use that sometimes if I don't have a real camera handy. I break mine too regularly to fuss with a nice phone. I need one that is made out of kriptonite.
It's about as thing as 5 or 6 credit cards, gets good reception, takes pictures and all kinds of other stuff that I don't know how to use. It's somewhat durable but nothing like that Motorola contractor phone.
I have had the razr in my pocket for about 18 months... It has taken its fair share of falls. The only complaint with mine is it gets a bit of interferance in some areas. But I hear the newer ones have fixed most of that. But it is suprisingly durable.
Stay away from the blackberry phone, I had two and each died on the first fall. My pocket pc phone has yet to fall, since they do not offer insurance on it, I can not afford to drop it.
I have sprint so I'm not sure if this will help but I have the Sanyo SCP 8400.
It has rubberized sides and the reason I bought is cause I can take pictures with it on the job and upload them directly to the computer to send to customers without having to send them anywhere else. Works well and it is way easier then trying to explain what the joists underneath there house look like.
I totally agree with Robert. The Motorola Razor is by far the best phone I've had. I have T-Mobile as my service provider and I get great reception all over the Tri-cities. It definitely beats anything Nextel has to offer.
I have the motorola i580,
Military Grade phone (sounds cool anyhow...)
Shock proof
Rain resistant
dust resistant
Rubber housing (over all buttons, etc... great for dirty hands)
The gadgets just came with it...(sorta cool though, for a week atleast)
1.3 mg camera / video
metric conversion calculator
walkie talkie, (also can switch to old school walkie when in serious remote areas)
mp3 player with really clear loud speaker (pauses when you get a call)
...anyhow non of that really matters right? Personally I got tired of my first 10 phones, including my blackberry, pda, and other non-throwable phones so I broke down, and got something made for the industry...
