Anyone Use Open Office?

There is a program out there that is a Microsoft Office "clone".

It is free and MS office is $200-300

They say this version can handle MS files and has Excel, Access, Powerpoint,
Word and others

Anyone have tried this or do they use it?
Any thoughts?

I would like to get MS version but dont wanna spend that much if I can get it for free

Thanx

Open Office is a very good package. It is as good if not better than MS Office. I have used it for years. Running excel spreadsheets through it will clean them up. You won't be sorry.

Dont waste another penny on microsoft. I have it but I dont use it much as I already have the office package. It was required when my wife was in school.

The next time I rebuild the computer or buy a new one I will install open office and a few other free/better programs. Bill Gates gets very little money from me and I would like to give him even less.

I have it and use it sparingly. I like WordPerfect better for word processing (beats Word and Open Office). Tried real hard to use the Open Office Data Base manager but the documentation just isn't there. After probably 100 hours work with it I gave up and went to Access.

For most stuff Open Office is just fine. For some complex tasks it just isn't ready for prime time.

I think Open Office is great! I believe it's the standard format for the state of Mass. right now.

My only problem with it is it's a bit slow to open unless you have the "Quickstart" thingie running, which consumes RAM. Not a big deal for newer computers.

All in all, an excellent suite of programs.

Sounds good then, I will get it then.

I actually seen it on ebay searching for the MSoft version and it was like $10 or less then I went to their WS and found out that it is free!!

Also, does anyone know if Open Office can be used on 64bit?
I have XP Pro 64 along w/ XP home of course on my biz HD.

Thanx,

AVG anti-virus. It's free you just have to search they're website a little to find it. There is also a pay version for businesses.
