Any Palm Treo Users?

Time for a smartphone. I can no longer go without access to emails and instant web access.

I have narrowed it down to the Palm Treo - the 700wx because I prefer the Windows system. Anyone currently using a Treo that give me the pros/cons?

I am with Verizon as well - how much will they get me for the data package?

Thanks for all replies...

Why do you want to run Wince?

I had a 600 and now a 680. Works mostly great.

Re: Any Palm Treo Users?

I have the Treo 755p with Sprint. I'm not savvy enough to know the difference, but I CONTINUOUSLY hear bad things about the windows Treo phones. Even the Sprint guys say they suck. I can do documents from my phone, and email them from it. Invoices, bids, etc. The web browser is really good, excellent in fact. Poolman is correct, $15 a month for unlimited internet is a deal I couldn't do without.

I'm constantly shocked at what I can pick up on the net with my phone. I can stream live radio from station websites, which comes in handy since my favorite college FB team is out of state. I didn't miss a radio broadcast this year when they weren't on tv. It might be my favorite toy.

Get the replacement insurance, because they are temperamental. I began by purchasing the 650, went through 3 of them before they upgraded me to the 755. All of the replacements were no hassle, and free, aside from the fact that I pay $6 a month for the pleasure.

I have had 2 palm treos. The first one ever issued and a 600. both were a piece of crap and the mail is a pin to get downloaded.

I have a Blackberry pearl and it has been a wonderful phone. I would get either that or the new Blackberry curve.

Brian,

I'm with Verizon and just purchased a XV6800 Smart Phone. It runs Windows Mobile 6. With just at a week of use I can say it is a very powerful little device. It has a touch screen AND slides open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard.

So far so good for me.

What do they get you for the data plan? $15 would be nice but I don't see it happening from Verizon. I would change but seems like everyone in Indiana uses Verizon over Sprint...

Re: Any Palm Treo Users?

If the email program is a pain you can easily use gmail on the Palm. Whenever I look into Verizon over Sprint, I see that they don't come close to ofering near the services I'm used to now. The data plan is one, and the minutes for the $ is another. I've been with them long enough that they don't charge me for the 7pm calling portion. That's when your night minutes start. One thing you need to know is they are able to negotiate with you if you push them hard enough.

Bryan,

Unlimited data package from Verizon runs about $40.00/month. Not cheap I know but the coverage is great. Did I mention this little gizmo came with built-in WiFi. Go near a hotspot and it finds it, if it is unsecured, like a coffee house, connect and your rocking at high speed. I nice little feature to have.
