Y Green??

First off, I am a general contractor, not a window, roof, etc guy.

I am doing a whole home renovation for a client and he is requesting my crews do the “Y green” financing, which I have a basic understanding of.

From my perspective it increases the cost of the services, as trades are footing the bill for the work, only to be paid in full- ONLY UPON COMPLETION AND ACCEPTANCE BY OWNER/GC. It seems like really high interest rates, and just a raw deal all around. Besides marketing, I can’t see why trades or homeowners would ever get involved into this crap.

What are your experiences with it? Specifically if you are GCing and your trades are operating under this concept.

To be honest, I can’t even ask my trades because none of them want to do it..

Re: Y Green??

ygrene com, is that what you're referring to?

I've never heard of it, but right on their home page it says the homeowner needs to use one of their certified contractors. So, the HO wants you to do whatever is needed for you to be certified so he can use their loan?

I wouldn't even entertain the idea of not getting paid until the end of the job. Find another way to finance or find another contractor
