What License Is Required For Property Maintenance (Florida)?
An acquaintance of mine is interested in starting a building maintenance company for property managers in Florida. He has 10 years of experience in construction (electrical) and went through a recognized apprenticeship program. He meets the education and work experience requirements to obtain an electrical license, but is also interested in maintenance of mostly residential properties.
Exactly what type of license is required for this type of work? He plans on obtaining the electrical license, but what else is needed? I've heard that you only need an occupational license for the county. Is this similar to a general contractors license (registered, not certified)? He doesn't plan on doing any work involving swimming pools, roofs, or HVAC. Can he still do basic plumbing or carpentry work? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
