Using A Leasing Company: Revisited

Ok, so I met with a leasing company in my area yesterday and was very impressed with the outcome. My painting company is growing substantially each year and I am trying to make the administrative as well as marketing aspects as 'turn-key' as possible. I was weighing the costs of hiring someone for 'mom's' hours to do office work but then I would still be dealing with seperate payroll company, comp company, and until this fall I was getting postcards printed online, then taking them to another printer, then taking them to the post office for my marketing.
I switched to a way larger direct mail company and I am doing almost all marketing through them for an affordable price. I still have my insurance agent for liability and auto, but now I can have this leasing company handle all payroll, benefits, and comp. Which was my greatest concern. Even better, after paying my deposit which they had me base on a very small payroll, I will be paying for only what I use for comp, and not have to go throught the whole 'did I pay too much or too little' audit at the end of the year. Then it just renews, so no more deposits. Also the applications I have employees fill out go to the leasing company through me as they are now co-employees, and they will do all of the calling of references and report back to me. On top of that they will handle breaking down payroll reports by job or any way I really want it with detailed reports. ALL FOR $13/ check!!! Even in the summer when I max out at around 16-18 painters, I am only paying around $230 a week max. essentially what I had figured on paying part of for an office person and the rest I was already paying to the payroll compnay I was using, except I don't have to now be managing an office as well.
Any one who has even a handful of guys I think would benefit from this system.

PS- thanks Sue Betz for turning me onto this concept.

FWIW, I recall on my GL application a question about using an 'employee leasing co.' I don't know if it has any impact on premiums, but I would check into it.

Outsourcing is the way to go. The big companies have been doing it for years and the new trend is that smaller companies are doing it to. It's what I plan on doing as soon as the need arises.

We've used the leasing companies, and the like in the past. It's viable method for small outfits, and/or a person just starting, that can't afford the deposits. But we've found it much more cost effective to bring it back in house once the company grows to a point you have full-time office/accounting staff.

you're welcome. I'd be permanently curled in a fetal ball position if it weren't for our leasing company.
