Truck Office
Hey all.
I've just about had it trying to do paperwork etc in my truck. Sometimes I put off doing it until later, but then it eats into my personal time. I was wondering if anybody had any slick ways of dealing with doing office work in your truck or on site, and/or some cool way to organize office stuff in your truck. I know there is stuff out there, but I wanted to see if anyone had any good first hand experience. Thanks -Bob |

Re: Truck Office
Get yourself one of those accordian binders and a clipboard. If that is a pic of your truck, I would be in that thing all the time anyhow!!

Re: Truck Office
I'm using a laptop with a stand, and a Canon pixma ip90v printer in my truck. One of the best investments I've made so far.

Re: Truck Office
I have the large data file holder which sits between the capt' seats, but it is still awkward to write in that position.I try to improvise.

Re: Truck Office
I have 3 primary portable things I use. The first thing I use is one of these: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?&langId=-1&storeId=10001&productId=19083&splCatType=0&catal ogId=10051&cmArea=FEATURED:SC1:CG12
I use the full size leather organizer. I keep all my important information and notes for the week in there. It has my construction calculater in it, business cards, note pads, current notes, pens, other information, etc. I keep this on the fold down armrest in my truck for quick access and note-taking. I usually fill up a small note pad every day or two with phone notes, new client info, ongoing updates, etc. I use 2 soft sided ballistic nylon computor cases, similar to this type: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/st...&cmArea=SEARCH One bag is gray, the other black. (Stay away from hard sided containers, they will get destroyed in a short time. That includes accordian files. They are for an office, not for the road - they will disintergrate and fall apart.) Gray bag: All current files for jobs, future jobs, reference info, etc. This is primarily a portable file case. Very, Very Handy. Very Durable. I also left the shoulder strap on to help carry it, when my handsare full. Each job has a file. The bag can be divided up, so that you have sections for things like: Active jobs, follow-up jobs, estimates, etc. Black Bag: Laptop, portable printer, Electrical chords, extensions, adaptors, mini-scanner. Fresh computer paper, envelopes, paper clips, pens, etc. I did add an extra cushioned bag for my laptop to sit in, for additional protection. I find that this system works great, and recommend anyone to try it. I've had the bags for over 2 years and they still look new, with zero working problems.
