Tips For Starting Carpentry Biz FL AL Area

1.Make sure you have a steady income (unrelated to carpentry)
2.Build an Adams type home (cookie cutter )for about 3 dollars a foot ,this will be good experience and you may learn how to work miracles. If you manage a profit next try walking on water .
3.Ask yourself why carpenters never build habitat for humanity homes.Although we are a charitable bunch , building houses for example .
4.Locate all nearby pawn shops (so in between giving free estimates you can pawn things to buy fuel with).
5.Find a way to get free food ,you will have to eat somehow .
6.Save all aluminum ,no not to recycle this will be your retirement fund.
7. There is alot of money in construction ,unfortunately none of it will go to you.
7.If not Catholic convert ,now you can explain to your starving family that this is practice for fasting.
8.Apply for small business loans, these can help pay taxes ,business expenses ,bankruptcy lawers.
9.Realize that when a contractor tells you to call back in 2 weeks ,this translates to f### you.
10.Call contractors ,this way secretaries can pretend to write down your number and have someone call you back.
11.Eliminate unnecessary expenses like:housing ,electricity ,auto repairs ,Christmas gifts ,birthday gifts ,clothing etc.
12.In this business no bid contracts means: contractor tells you what a job will pay, (intead of bidding) this is likely 50% too little.
13.Save any scraps from jobs , who knows maybe eventually you could use it to build a midget house and charge for material.
14.Find self help books ,possibly in someones garbage can .Not for motivation or inspiration , but to help you stay sane.Besides you definitely can't afford professional help.
15.Stop making fun of the homeless ,many are just retired carpenters.

Rough day dude?

It's hard to believe framing prices have dropped so drastically in such a short period of time. Florida is a tough market right now.

Keep your head up.

Maybe a clever way of preventing other tradespeople from moving in on his turf. None the less a funny post.

No conspiracy, it's rough here right now. If you think he is making it up by all means move your operations to NW Florida. I have 5-8 subs a day calling looking for work, no calls from customers. I can get guys that have had their own businesses for years to work for $14 an hour, they are wc exempt have their own liability, enclosed trailer full of tools etc.
